WOSP 2008 Great Finale
This is the sixteenth Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. It works like this: for one day every year, hundreds of thousands of volunteers head out to collect money for the organisation. This money goes to a different medical cause every year- they buy ambulances, incubators... all sorts of expensive medical equipment.

There are concerts and events all over the country which all end in fireworks at eight pm (I had to miss them this year, alas, so no photos) and the whole thing has non-stop live coverage on TVP2, one of our national TV channels. The symbol of the Orchestra is a heart, so there are always plenty of heart-shaped balloons around...

In the photo, behind the balloons, you can see Warsaw's infamous landmark, the Palace of Culture and Science. It was a gift of friendship from the good people of the USSR. ;) You learn to love it.

As I type this out, the counted donations are up to over thirteen million zloties (over five million USD) and the day is far from over.

postcard

Q- How much text can these postcards hold?
A- 500 characters. That's about 3 average size paragraphs.

Q- I noticed I can write more than the actual area on the card, how does that work?
A- The text area on your screen is slightly different then the print area of the actual card. Don't worry, your
message will fit on the card completely intact.

Q- Will the card include a link to my original photo?
A- Yes. Take a look in the lower right corner of the card. A link to your calendar and the image you are sending will be included there.

Q- How comparable are ShutterCal postcards to the look and feel of traditional postcards?
A- Honestly, ShutterCal postcards are superior to the average card you'd find in a store. They are printed on thick premium paper with top quality inks. They also have a beautiful glossy finish that makes the image pop while adding a extra layer of protection to the photo.

Noteable Notes:
Postcards go through the riggers of postal system!
These are high quality images passing through the crazy mail sorting machines of the world. Your cards are going to look great, but keep in mind that they are going to get stamped, postmarked, and handled. It all adds to the characteristics that make postcards great!

Postcards have unpredictable delivery times:
We did some tests and are amazed by the results! You could see your postcards reaching their destinations within 3 days! Other times your cards can take 2+ weeks to arrive ...postcards are just crazy like that.

Postcards are fun, but customized postcards are amazing!:
Your photography changes everything! It's always been neat to send or receive a postcard, but your photo instead of a default stock image is going to add an impressive amount of fun.
