Today was the Artisans' Fair downtown! The town square was covered in people and tents and the police roped off the block around the square (which was a bit eerie). Lotta cool stuff, including a coupla booths with some beautiful glassware. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

Beep beep, it's the fire truck! (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

Let's reflect on things for a moment -- things like breakfast. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

Must be springtime. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

What to do on a rainy day? Play with the kitty, of course! (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

Even skellytones like to hang out by the stream. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

I made a PVC bike rack, all by myself! Lowe's supplied about 45' of PVC pipe for about $5, along with $3 of joints and a $10 PVC cutter (which is double-plus super fun to use). It turned out pretty good, but I want to go back and grab a few more joints so I can add a little supporting structure with the leftover pipe. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

<p>ETA: I upgraded the rig a bit to stand up stronger! Check it out on <u><a href='/calendar/andytuba/2010/5/31/'>May 31</a></u>!

I've been assigned to do photo assessments of several gas stations this week. Don't get me wrong, it's very exciting, but the paperwork is a bit tedious. I am actually am interested in doing these assignments, since it gives me a glimpse into the corporate thought process about what little details HQ thinks are important regarding presentation and service and then how that gets interpreted at the bottom level of the pyramid. Also, they usually feed me. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

I am amused to say that, even on the other side of the U.S., it can still feel like home. Up on the north side of town, there's an office complex called 'Philadelphia Square,' which is themed like colonial Philadelphia. The streets have names like 'Constitution Dr' and the buildings are supposed to resemble historical landmarks, like Washington's (?) house, or typical architecture, like the 'Schoolhouse.' Ultimately, it's a big larf, since they're all moderately-priced office rental spaces. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

The B-Line Butte County bus system: getting me across town on a daily basis. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

A funny thing happened today: I thought I was going to model for some photog student whom I found on craigslist for her portfolio. Turns out she was interested in modelling herself. Good thing I actually brought my camera! Now I just have to learn how to do post-production from RAW, since this is obviously way too dark... (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

There's been a lot of orders coming in recently for <a href='/calendar/cheshirekatastrophe'>'Lin</a>, including one for a duvet cover with a big fleur-de-lis. I am helping -- by taking photos of 'Lin's duvet so she can give the buyer a sample of different styles. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
16
'WARNING: Transcontinental Cable in this vicinity.' How cool is that? (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
17
The train tracks run pretty straight north-south along the west side of town here, along with a bike path for about a mile. There's also some sweet graffiti painted near where you can actually get onto the tracks without jumping the face. Write on, froggy, write on. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

It's a kitty in the grass, kitty in the grass, yes golly gee -- it's a kitty in the grass! (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

I was assigned a mystery shop up in Paradise, which is a bumfuck town up in the hills, about a half-hourth northeast of Chico. Here is my proof! Well, my receipt from the grocery store was, but this is slightly more interesting. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

The kitchen -- on a decent day. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

The mint in <a href='/calendar/cheshirekatastrophe'>'Lin</a>'s backyard is getting a bit tall, so she trimmed them and I wrapped them and now they're hanging up out back to dry out. How sweet it must be to be an herb farmer! (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
22
For <a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jake_Day'>Jake Day</a>, <a href='/calendar/cheshirekatastrophe'>'Lin</a> and I put together two bags of water balloons, spiffed 'em up a little bit, and turned them loose on the folks at the One Mile watering hole up in Bidwell Park. Whee! Those kids were so stoked to have water balloons. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)

'Lin and I rotated the cottage today! She wanted to free up a corner in anticipation of getting a sewing table in a few weeks, so the bed is now kitty-corner across the room and everything else is re-organized around it. We'll see over the rest of the week how that affects life around here. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
24
Long cat is long! Erik is happy to find that he can stretch out on this window sill, now that there's a small cabinet buttressing his butt instead of a big one blocking him out. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
25
'Lin and I are both having a little trouble adjusting to using the kitchen door instead of the front door to get in the cottage. Unfortunately, this also means jumping through the sprinkler system in the backyard. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
26
Oh look, a cat! in a window! Let's play with it. (Lumix DMC-FZ2)
27
Erik's a bit confused at having to use the kitchen door, too. 'Lin wants to just give him a cat-flap, but he has to stay in at night lest he get into night-fights. Can anyone recommend a cat-flap with a lock? (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
28
Hah! The cat shouldn't've shown his face outside the cottage. Such indignities.. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
29
I did it, I did it! I finished making my PVC shelving unit! It came out a little more expensive than something from KMart, but much more fun, movable, and it only weighs a pound or two. As this is my second project in PVC, I'm figuring out fun ways to handle the pipe and joints -- and how to use other materials (like webbing and fabric) to supplement the pipe, like for the actual shelves. (The PVC only provided the skeleton.) I'll probably add a coat rack to the top in a few weeks, but this is all I need to store all my clothes. (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
30
Remember the bike rack I made from <a href='/calendar/andytuba/2010/5/11'>May 11</a>? I added some more support to it and now it's ready for cement (and maybe some cinder block anchors)! (Lumix DMC-FZ28)
