Name:

Paolo C

Location:

Brooklyn / Sassari (IT)

About Me:

Should this be considered a good thing?
1
Washington, DC! It's really hard to choose a picture for this day – I took over three hundreds. This is the Jefferson Memorial, in the National Mall.
2
“If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute”, they say in Baltimore, MD.
3
One more day in DC. A walk in Georgetown (photo), Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, Shaw, Downtown, National Mall, then a run to Union Station where I almost missed my coach to Baltimore.
4
An earthquake in Italy has killed several people tonight.
5
A surprisingly tidy fridge. My roommate did some serious cleaning!
6
Greetings from the New York Public Library, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
7
Sometimes it looks like I'm living in a movie by Wes Anderson. It's a good thing.
8
My last day in New York City (until this fall). A friend and I walked down the whole Broadway in Manhattan. Five more friends, and my partner, joined in different parts of the walk. I'll remember this day as one of the best of my whole life.
9
It's easier to leave than to be left behind / Leaving was never my proud / Leaving New York, never easy / I saw the light fading out.
10
Italy.
11
Happy Easter! A selection of Sardinian traditional confectionery.
12
Easter Monday (a national holiday) is typically the first out-of-town excursion of the year for Italians. This is Castelsardo, near Sassari (Sardinia, Italy).
13
Fuori i tonni dalle scatole (Set tuna free from cans). Sassari. [Nostromo (boatswain) is also a brand of canned tuna]
14
Walking in the historic center of Sassari can be a truly frustrating experience: there are lots of tiny, beautiful streets and squares with pretty old houses in desperate need of restoration. Most of them will likely never get one.
15
More houses in Sassari.
16
My feet (and Paola's) touch the Mediterranean sea for the first time in 2009. At last!
17
It looks like my cousin is enjoying his brother's birthday party.
18
The pond of Platamona, near Sassari (actually prettier than this).
19
A light rail train station in Sassari.
20
Seen in the aisle of the Chiesa della Madonna del Rosario (Church of Our Lady of the Rosary), Sassari.
21
I am now on Postcrossing (same username). This is the postcard I have just sent to Germany (so it's a picture of someone else's picture)
22
A walk in Monserrato, a 17th century city park in Sassari (more construction followed until the 19th century).
In the 1950s, Monserrato was abandoned and soon it became an area where you would not really like to spend a night alone. A few years ago, a reclaiming project made it the green gem I am trying to show you.
23
A pirate-themed candy store in Alghero.
24
A Pinnetta, that is the typical Sardinian shepherd's hut. This one, near Siddi, is probably the best-looking I have ever seen.
25
Basketball!
26
Packing...
27
Day 1: Pisa.
28
Day 2: Parma.
29
Day 3: still in Parma (a very pretty town).
