Perspicacity's calendar

Name:

Lindsey Weaver

Location:

Greeley, CO

Camera(s):

Right now I mostly use my Canon PowerShot SD400. It's small, versatile, and takes surprisingly good shots. Some day soon I hope to upgrade to a full-fledged digital SLR...

About Me:

Documenting life one photograph at a time... what better way to find some perspicacity?

(perspicacity: keenness of mental perception and understanding; discernment; penetration.)

Patterns of light and color...
13
Greeley used to be home to a lot of agricultural industry. It's still an important part of the economy, but that sector isn't as vibrant as it once was. Here are some remnants of Greeley's days as the sugar beet capital of the West.
14
I took this photo two years ago on a visit to India, but I thought it appropriate to post it anyway in honor of Indian Independence Day, which is today.
15
It's been raining for the last two days straight, something that doesn't happen often here in the semi-desert of Colorado.
16
Over the summer I started 'capturing colors' with my camera. I have a million ideas for projects using small prints of just one color in combination. So... because I've been remiss in taking new photographs some days, I'll fill in the blank days with an example of my captured colors.

Today: Black (The moon at night taken from a moving car.)
17
I know you shouldn't take pictures while driving, but sometimes (okay... often) I just can't resist.
18
Today: Brown

I was walking along Boulder Creek and couldn't pass up the opportunity to capture the shimmering earth tones of the water.
19
As I wrote Monday, I just can't resist a photo opp, even when in the car. I especially love the way headlights and streetlights look when photographed from a moving vehicle at night.
20
Just fiddling with my camera's macro feature. Ordinary objects always look so different up close.
21
Enjoying a margarita with my parents, it started raining lightly on us out on the patio.
22
Today: Red

Again, playing with my camera's macro setting. This time taking a picture (during a blackout) of candlelight shining through a patterned red glass candle holder.
23
Today: Green

On my first trip to Florida, my friend and I went to the Everglades for a visit. Being a Colorado native, I was blown away by how green everything was, including these palm fronds.
24
There's a street underpass on the college campus near by that often has entertaining graffiti. This graffiti on the light box caught my eye today.
25
Today: White

Every year for New Year's some friends and I go to a different out of the way place to celebrate. In Colorado in January, out of the way means snow. So... today's captured color: paw prints in the white near Leadville, Colorado.
26
Just fiddling with my camera while waiting for lunch today.
27
A presidential shadow... This is what I saw from where I sat at Mile High watching Barack Obama's speech. It was electrifying to be there, even if we couldn't see much. (If you look closely, you can also so the back of Obama's head.)
28
I'm still on a high from last night's speech so I decided to post another picture from the event. This one's blurry, but just imagine an entire stadium waving American flags and signs of 'Change.' Amazing.

Since elementary school when I wanted to become an astrophotographer I've had glow-in-the-dark stars on my ceiling. This is the first time I've tried capturing them in a photograph.
