Evacuation Vacation Day 2...
Nashville, TN!
downtown was hoping on labor day. Desiree and I went dancing, cowgirl style. It was here at this bar that I also ran into some people from Tulane also fleeing hurricane drama. We all were waiting to hear how the levees were holding up and when we would be able to return. This couple also looked like they had a lot on their minds, and i was drawn to them for a photo.

More Country! yee haww.
just can't get enough.

Back in Memphis...
The levees held! and no major damage has befallen NOLA. Now we just wait to hear about when power will be restored so we can go back. In the meantime, we went to the Civil Rights Museum, built on the site of Martin Luther King Jr.'s assasination at the Lorraine Motel in downtown Memphis. Everything has been kept exactly as is, the museum built around it.

Day 1 of attempted return drive to New Orleans. We stopped in Holly Springs, MS, a very small, quaint southern town. We wandered around town for a bit and stumbled upon these guys and their 'record shop'. I couldn't help but take a picture of this crew, playing checkers and chilling in the mid day sun. The guy up front gave me shit for it (even though i asked politely to take their picture), the guy in the back told him to leave me alone. All smelled slightly of liquor.
4
'Graceland Too' in Holly Springs. What a guy and what a trip. He has dedicated his entire life to collecting Elvis memorabilia and and devoted his house as a shrine to Elvis. Note: his son AND cat are both named Elvis.
5
Finally leaving Memphis for good. But not before we saw some down home blues in a smoky joint downtown.
6
No me Gustav!!
My favorite (and only) coffee shop near my house had some damage to their front and remain closed for business..

So far, Tulane wins for university with most ancient skulls on campus. This one is part of a permanent exhibition in the museum at the Middle American Research Institute. Also! this skull was found with a huge ass chunk of jade inside his mouth.
17
Oliver, Franz and Lazaro, the first anthropologists to go on an expedition to Central America as part of Tulane's Middle American Research institute. The institute has been around since the early 1900's and is seriously old school indiana jones style.
18
The golden slipper. During intermission, some guy was standing outside holding this gold pump taking his best shot at Prince Charming, looking for that special girl who lost her shoe. Seriously though what cinderella is so trashed that she leaves the funk show missing her three inch golden pump?
By the end of the night Prince Charming gave up and left it with lost and found. No storybook love here tonight, just new orleans funk.

My roomate's cat 'Chairman Meow' has lived up to his name and claimed my favorite new chair on this rainy hungover saturday.
