today was kind of blech. But I got out of work early and thought I should walk around Bushwick and take photos. I love Bushwick. I took so many of the skyline, and industrial buildings but I came home and saw this photo which was totally washed out. I discovered the 'invert' button on photo editor and this fit my mood more than the others. I still don't know why I like it. but i do.

A walk across the Pulaski bridge early morning after july 4th. It was surprisingly quiet , and a little surreal as aftershocks of fire works celebrations went off in the distance. We paused to take in the view, and I paused to photograph two of my favorite dudes.

At summerstage there were these two beautiful women dancing as if no one was watching. Except of course for me. I was mesmorized by their fluidity and spirit but couldn't get a good clear shot..and i didn't have the guts to move too far from my safe spot behind fellow onlookers. An awkward photo day, but a lovely memory.

ok. I'm cheating a little. I took this a few days ago, but just edited it on my new mac, so I am declaring it photo of the day. I was feeling shy today and not in the mood to take too many photos. I enjoy that it looks a bit like a painting. At the moment i took it the kids and everything around them was so still, it kind of seemed like the picture had already been taken and I just walked into it.

I've been trying to spend as much time as possible on my roof. Sittin'. Thinkin'. Takin pictures of my feet.

Another day has passed and I am still looking at my feet. I'm bored ( and a little sad) but! my pink furry slippers make me happy! They have been with me from day one when i moved into this bizarre space, and we have weathered through it together. They are smelly, very old, and still very pink; and i love them.

There was a viewing of this film tonight in Bushwick. It explores our assumptions about pain and pleasure, the capacities of our bodies, and how we experience labor and birth. It would have been disruptive to take a photo during the film so i took this when i got back. The images of the film were so beautiful, they continue to resonate with me. There could be no other picture of the day.

Deborah and Jonathan and little Jonathan Lopez. They are one of the sweetest couples I have met at St. Nicholas OBGYN. I've started to take pictures of all the couples and families I have come to love, since i fear by the time i see them again, alot will have changed.

So i see this guy walk past my on the platform waiting for the L train. I knew I wanted a picture so i followed him stealthlike into his car, sat between smelly breath man and dog vomit on the floor waiting for him to turn his hand around so the flowers were showing next to his tattoo. The focus is a little off but i got it.

I went to see the Gospel Queens of Brooklyn at fat cat billiards tonight. they rock, and are most definately going to heaven. Naomi Davis, the lead vocalist goes around the crowd signing about Jesus while people in the background are playing pool and fooseball. I don't now why this photo came out so trippy, but I like it anyhow

Competitive eating contest at Choo Choo burger in Astoria! This guy broke the ChooChoo burger record by eating 9 burgers in 5 minutes!

baby shower for Mercedes! She has that natural pregnant woman glow about her so she made every shot beautiful but i especially liked this one of the young girl waiting for the baby to kick.

dear doc marten, we have been so many places together over the years and i have loved every day we spent together; you have been there for me in city, countryside, through, rain sleet, and shine. But i have grown and you haven't (i should have had more foresight and bought a 1/2 size up) i will miss you.
